WE'RE BACK! Spring is right around the corner, and we're gearing up for another exciting season! Introducing the 2018 Season Premiere at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater! ~APRIL 27 & 28~ Our traditional opening double feature, THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) & WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971) will be presented in their original 35MM FILM format, and splashed against our GARGANTUAN outdoor screen! Join us for a night of family fun under the stars as we celebrate the return of Drive-In times, and the beginning of an fresh new cinematic adventure!
It's a flurry of Murray! On May 4th and 5th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater brings you the first of our 2018 Actor's Spotlight Series, with a full four-feature marathon of comedy classics starring the legendary actor/comedian extraordinaire, Bill Murray! All four features will be presented on glorious 35mm film, the way they were meant to be seen! Join us for two nights of Murray madness under the stars!
On FRIDAY, May 4th, things get a little loopy with GROUNDHOG DAY (1993), followed by some basic training in STRIPES (1983).
On SATURDAY, May 5th, the planets favorite supernatural pest control service hits the big Big BIG screen with a double feature of GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) and GHOSTBUSTERS 2 (1989).
On May 11 & 12, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater proudly presents a modern take on last seasons “Mahoning Gangsters” event, celebrating the works of filmmaker Martin Scorsese in the very first of our 2018 Director Spotlight series! GOODFELLAS (1990) and CASINO (1995) will be premiered back-to-back on big Big BIG screen in glorious 35mm film! Join us for a night of masterfully crafted cinema under the stars!
On May 18 and 19, you're invited to see the story of The Mahoning Drive-In Theater through the lens of filmmaker and documentarian, Alexander Monelli, as he captures our struggles and successes while we keep this old behemoth glowing with nostalgia! The award-winning documentary “At The Drive-In” will premiere for the first time ever... AT THE DRIVE-IN!
It wouldn't be a true drive-in experience without a co-feature, however. We're happy to announce “American Movie” (1999) to boost this weekends cinematic magic, making this a true celebration of film, filmmaking, and the American dream!
There will be a Q&A with filmmaker Alexander Monelli, along with guest appearances by the drive-in staff! It's gonna be a meta good time! Come celebrate with us!
The dead will rise and walk the Mahoning Drive-in once again as Exhumed Films brings forth ZOMBIEFEST IV on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27! Flesh eating hordes of the dead attack the living in nine fantastic tales of biting, tearing, lumbering fear over three gore-filled nights! If this one doesn’t give you goosebumps, you may have just been eaten alive by a walking corpse!
Two years ago, hundreds of John Carpenter fans assaulted the drive-in lot for six features from the modern master of terror... this season we’re doing it again! On June 1 & 2, Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater present another shattering selection of Carpenter classics in 35mm starting off with a 40th anniversary screening of the director’s most famous film, HALLOWEEN!
We're goin' balls out! On June 8 & 9, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater celebrates an American pastime the only way we know how, by throwing a home-run double-hitter of two big league classics for the BIG screen! A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN (1992) and the original classic, THE BAD NEWS BEARS (1976), back-to-back on 35mm!
IT RETURNS (from the dead)! On June 15th & 16th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is throwing an all-out all night VAMPYRTY; a celebrating everyone's favorite creature of the night! Get ready for an unparalleled triple-fright of undead classics FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (1996), NEAR DARK (1987) and, VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN (1995). Sharpen your fangs, sprout those bat wings, and fly on over for weekend of monsters, mayhem, and mullets!
Last year, on Oct. 19th cinema lost one of the great practitioners of genre cinema in Umberto Lenzi (1931-2017). Join Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater as we celebrate the work of this Italian master craftsman with a Blood-Stained Tribute to Umberto Lenzi! Six bleak and brutal films spanning five blood-spattered genres including cannibal adventure, zombie horror, poliziotteschi, giallo and the spaghetti western.
FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater brings you a special 3 day event! Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) will premiere on glorious 35mm FILM! Bring your friends and family to experience this classic trilogy the way is was meant to be; under the stars on the largest CinemaScope screen in the area!

The Mahoning Drive-In Theater and Lunchmeat VHS are bringing you in 2 nights packed with Movies, Vendors, Games, Music, Contests, and so much more... Some of the rarest VHS titles and home video horror hits will be coming at you on the big Big BIG screen! That's right, we're running VHS TAPES at one of the largest drive-in theaters around!
Introducing Christmas In July (7/13 & 7/14); a holiday season inspired double-feature of A Christmas Story (1983) and Elf (2003) that's sure to get you in the spirit of the season, and craving for a time of ugly sweaters, eggnog, fruit cake, and dare I say snow! Grab the family, bring your friends, sit back, and chill out with these winter classics in the refreshing warmth of a summer night under the stars!
July 20 & 21 ~ Get ready to party, dudes and dudettes! It's BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT WEEKEND! This event has been on our “dream list” for a while! Our two favorite time-travelers are finally comin' at you in a bodacious double-feature for the decades! Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991) will be blasting off back-to-back on the biggest outdoor screen in the state! So grab your friends, your family, famous historical figures, and bring them to The Mahoning Drive-In Theater for a night of partying under the stars!
The classic drive-in theater experience was built on cheap, independent horror, sci-fi and exploitation movies in the 50s & 60s — movies made with a tongue planted firmly in the cheek, with inspired improbable scenarios and more than likely a rubbery monster or a hatchet wielding maniac on-the-loose! This summer, Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater are pleased to bring back the one-and-only SCHLOCK-O-RAMA! Get ready for another wild fun weekend of rarely shown cheesy ozoner favorites that were meant to be seen on the outdoor screen under the stars!

August 10 & 11, GET OVER HERE for the second installment of Video Game Weekend! Another one-of-a-kind experience by The Mahoning Drive-In Theater!
Instead of our standard double feature, we will engage in MORTAL KOMBAT with the 1995 action classic, followed by an old- school VIDEO GAME tournament on the MASSIVE outdoor screen. Players will brawl one another for dominance, and the ultimate prize!
August 17 & 18 is Sing-Along Weekend at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater!

On September 14 & 15, The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1992) will be presented back-to-back-to-back on glorious 35mm film, and blasted onto the biggest screen in the state!
September 21 & 22, It's a Gremlins Takeover at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater! Gremlins 1 & 2, back-to-back on 35mm, blasted on one of the largest screens in the country! The same double-bill insanity runs both nights.
On September 28th & 29th, Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater invite you to spend a weekend squirming in fear as WEEKEND OF TERROR returns to the giant drive-in screen! Two nights of raw fright begins with a triple-bill of cannibal chillers on Friday night, and continues with a trio of gritty killer thrillers on Saturday. Tasty shockers guaranteed to unsettle your stomach — all presented in 35mm. You don’t want to be anywhere else!
On Oct. 5 & 6, Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater are planning something a little different for all you film crazy amigos: East Meets West at the Drive-In! Three Kung Fu flicks on Friday, and a trio of spaghetti westerns on Saturday — it’s flashing fists and crushing kicks vs. quick draws and hot lead on the giant outdoor screen! Plus Kung Fu and spaghetti western trailers before each film. We would like to bring more Grindhouse/exploitation genres to the drive-in, so please show your support, share the word with your friends and get your brass knuckles and Stetsons and meet us at the drive-in at sundown!
October 12 & 13, it's a double dose of dreadful fright, crafted by the master of horror himself! Our 2018 season has been peppered with Kingly classics, but we felt it was time to give everybody's favorite Tommyknocker a night of his own! 'Tis the season, after all. Hail to the King, baby!
This is a two-night special event where we showcase the most interesting, thought provoking, weird, offbeat, quirky, and fun short films from around the tri-state area. Whether a drama, comedy, horror, sci-fi, animation, or whatever bizarre mash up of genre filmmaking you can come up with.
Each night will also premiere a feature length independent film curated by the festival show-runners! It's not a drive-in event without a double feature!
This event also features guest filmmaker Q&A and an AWARDS CEREMONY each night! ...Come out Friday and Saturday night to see who takes home the top prize for the coveted :Golden Shorty" award!!!
October 26th – 27th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater celebrates the conclusion of the 2018 drive-in season by throwing the ultimate Halloween party, and this year, we've gone 90's! All four features are presented on bangin' 35mm FILM! This is a killer two night, two-part event, so put on your favorite sweaters, tune in your boom boxes, pack your sleeping bags, and bring your friends to a whole weekend of Halloween fun!
